NATIVE speakers of a language who would like to take that language as a class
NON-NATIVE speakers of a language who:
have lived and attended school in country in which the target language is spoken
have attended school in the US in which the target language was a primary language of instruction (for example, an international, immersion or bi-lingual school)
have taken classes with a tutor or with a language association outside of school in order to advance their abilities
How are placement tests scheduled?
Current AHS students
Fill out the "Request for Placement Test" form which may be found below.
Return the completed from to Senor Romero in room 3207. If you complete the form over the summer, please scan your hand-written form (typed forms will not be accepted) and send it by e-mail to Alejandro Romero.
Students must have turned in this completed form prior to taking the placement test.
Make sure that you register for level 1 class of the language on your course request form. Once the placement test has been graded, we will contact your counselor to have them make the appropriate change.
New students to AHS, including rising 9th graders:
Please complete the "Request for Placement" form, scan and e-mail it as an attachment to Alejandro Romero. Typed forms will not be accepted.
If we have received your "Request for Placement" form by the deadline, you will be e-mailed a confirmation that includes the location for the testing.
Forms must be received by TBD.
TEST DATE: TBD. Students who miss this test date will have to wait until the next time placement tests are given which will be in early August of the next school year. Please be sure to arrive on time for testing as late arrivals will not be admitted for testing.
The placement test takes 2 to 3 hours and covers listening, speaking, reading and writing.
