NATIVE speakers of a language who would like to take that language as a class
NON-NATIVE speakers of a language who:
have lived and attended school in country in which the target language is spoken
have attended school in the US in which the target language was a primary language of instruction (for example, an international, immersion or bi-lingual school)
have taken classes with a tutor or with a language association outside of school in order to advance their abilities
are currently in level 3 Honors of a language, made at least a 92 first semester, have their current teacher's recommendation and wish to skip level 4H in order to go directly into AP
How are placement tests scheduled?
Current AHS students
Fill out the "Request for Placement Test" form which may be found below.
Return the completed from to Mme Rozei in room 4211.
Students must have turned in this completed form prior to taking the placement test.
Make sure that you register for level 1 class of the language on your course request form. Once the placement test has been graded, we will contact your counselor to have them make the appropriate change.
TEST DATE: mid-February. The date will be confirmed with you when you turn in your fomr to Mme Rozei. Students who miss this test date will have to wait until the next time placement tests are given which will be in early August of the next school year.
New students to AHS
The only test date for the 2017-18 school year will be on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. If we have received your "Request for Placement" form by the deadline, you will be e-mailed a confirmation that includes the location for the testing. The test takes several hours and you will miss class that morning.
Please complete the "Request for Placement" form and e-mail it as an attachment to Katherine Rozei, World Language Department Chair.
Forms must be received by Thursday, August 10, 2o17.
The placement test takes 2 to 3 hours and covers listening, speaking, reading and writing.
